Karyological studies in Jaborosa (Solanaceae)
Sixteen species of Jaborosa (Solanaceae), including eight endemic to Argentina, were studied karyologically. The numbers n = 12 and/or 2n = 24 were found in all species, the majority of the cases being new reports. Mitotic chromosomes were smallto medium-sized, the average length varying from 2.95 to 4.93 mm. All species had one to three chromosome pairs with satellites. The karyotypes, obtaine...
متن کاملSpiranoid Withanolides from Jaborosa odonelliana and Jaborosa runcinata
Two new spiranoid withanolides, (20R,22R,23R)-12β ,17β ,22-trihydroxy-1-oxo-12,23-cycloergosta-2,24-dien-26,23-olide (3) and (23R)-5α ,6β ,12β ,21-tetrahydroxy-1,22-dioxo-12,23-cycloergosta-2,17,24-trien-26,23-olide (4) were isolated from plants of Jaborosa odonelliana and Jaborosa runcinata, respectively. Compounds 3 and 4 were characterized by a combination of spectroscopic methods (1D and 2D...
متن کاملKaryological studies in Brazilian species of Lippia L. (Verbenaceae).
The genus Lippia (Verbenaceae) comprise around 160 species spread out mainly in South and Central Americas with few African species, some of them with potential medicinal use. Brazil is one the most important centers of diversity with approximately 75% of the species described so far. Innumerous species are endemic and poorly studied especially at a cytological level. Here, chromosomal length, ...
متن کاملThe Importance of Oligosulfides in the Attraction of Fly Pollinators to the Brood-site Deceptive Species Jaborosa Rotacea (solanaceae)
Premise of research. Brood-site deceptive flowers use dishonest signals—especially floral odors that mimic oviposition substrates—to attract and deceive saprophilous insects to pollinate them. In this work, we recorded the pollinators of the sapromyiophilous species Jaborosa rotacea (Solanaceae) endemic to southern South America. Then, we characterized the floral volatiles of this species, and ...
متن کاملKaryological studies in Triticum monococcum subsp. aegilopoides and Aegilops cylindrica species grown wild pairwise in west Iran
The wild-relative gene pools of wheat are a rich source of genetic variation for wheat improvement.Karyotypes of eight genotypes of Triticum monococcum subsp. aegilopoides and eight genotypes of Aegilops cylindrica, which grown wild next to each other in different regions in the west of Iran were studied. Root tips were treated in α-bromonaphthalene solution, fixed in chromic acid-formaldehyde f...
